A Max for Live device is a custom tool, effect, or instrument created using Max/Msp, a visual programming environment integrated into Ableton Live. You can use Max for Live devices directly within Ableton Live sessions or Max/Msp patches.

Simply download the device from its product page. You will receive a .zip file to extract and save its content in your Ableton User Library Devices folder. You will find the device in any Ableton Live session inside the User Library. To load the device in a Max/Msp patch save the extracted content in any accessible folder. Then open the recipient patch and drag&drop the .amxd file from the downloaded folder.
